Hi, I'm Mike and I've been taking photos since I attempted to take photos with my Mom's old Kodak Holiday camera when I was six or seven years old. The photos were terrible, but I was bitten with the desire to make take photos to document the world around me. Today I take photos not to just document the world around me, but because I need to, just like I need to breath.

 

In the early 2000's I was involved in the Texas Church Project, with four other talented photographers. The group went out to document hundred year old churches, some with one hundred year old cameras and process that were just as old, such as platinum and palladium prints and wet plate. Have been fortunate to work with many talented photographers in my lifetime.

Areas of interest, aside from the church project, include night scapes and astro photography, storm photography and most recently urban townscapes photography. Latest project is related to places that could soon become lost, either through changes in appearance or by virtue of change be it decay and returning to nature or change because they are no longer loved. They could be a building or a forest, just a change that one day someone notices and says with a bit of sadness 'I remember' or 'what happened to'.  

 

Change is inevitable, but that does not mean we like it does it.

 

Work on these pages is a mixture of digital and film, with film work in different formats including 35mm, 120 roll film 6x6 up to 6x12 and some older formats such as 127, 620 and 616.
