There Will Be Flags, you might ask what that is all about. This project is a result, in part, of the 250th Birthday of the United States. Around the time of July 4, 2026 I noticed an increase in the number of flags that were out, and some in quiet abundance. The tradition of flying the flag is as old as the country, even older. I have noticed more flags than are typical, perhaps more like one would see right after 9-11. Some have been there for a long time, others were placed outside was part of the celebration of the 250. ‘The FLAG’, it serves many purpose and has a deep meaning for some. We place it at half-staff to display honor for the fallen, it has been burned and flown upside down in protest. It is worn as part of a uniform sometimes and becomes part of clothing, a practice I do not care for. Photos in the project were made using an iPhone, film and digital cameras.
